Position: Environmental Health & Safety Officer

Job Summary:
The Environmental Health & Safety Officer will lead quality assurance and workplace safety initiatives at the property level. This role ensures that operations align with Marriott’s global standards, local regulations, and sustainability objectives while maintaining guest satisfaction and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will promote a culture of health, safety, and quality excellence through effective leadership, coaching, and data-driven management.


Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Implement and oversee quality management systems in alignment with Marriott’s brand standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and environmental standards.
  • Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to meet performance goals.
  • Collaborate with regional and corporate quality teams on system-wide improvements and reporting.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with local and international health and safety regulations.
  • Identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement preventive measures.
  • Conduct emergency preparedness drills and staff safety training programs.
  • Maintain safety records, monitor incidents, and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.

Guest Experience & Service Quality

  • Review guest feedback related to safety and service quality.
  • Coordinate with department heads to resolve guest complaints and enhance service delivery.
  • Promote and model service behaviors that meet or exceed Marriott’s customer expectations.

Training and Development

  • Provide ongoing training to staff on Total Quality Management (TQM), health, and safety standards.
  • Build capacity among managers to apply quality tools and promote accountability across departments.
  • Facilitate process improvement teams to enhance efficiency and guest satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Business Administration, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • A diploma with additional experience in hotel operations will also be considered.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in hotel operations, safety management, or quality assurance; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience in guest services, housekeeping, or hospitality management.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and safety regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement improvements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with hotel management software.
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
