About the Role
The Photographer Trainer will play a key role in WFP Storytellers Ethiopia, a project that empowers WFP beneficiaries with communication and storytelling skills. The role involves training Sudanese refugees in Ura Refugee Settlement in photography and documenting their stories.
The successful candidate will also create a documentary photo series showcasing the lives of four storytellers during the training period.
Key Responsibilities

Training & Mentorship
-
Deliver both theoretical and practical training sessions on smartphone photography and visual storytelling.

Support participants in developing creative storytelling through imagery.

Content Development
-
Design training content, lesson plans, and supporting materials for the Storytellers initiative.

Documentary Photography
-
Produce 8β10 high-quality photo series highlighting the lives and experiences of selected storytellers.

Coaching & Guidance
-
Provide hands-on coaching during photography exercises and assignments.

Guide participants in ethical storytelling and consent-based documentation.

Collaboration
-
Work closely with the WFP Communications team and contribute to the overall success of the project.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelorβs degree in Photography, Visual Arts, Media, Communications, or related field.

Proven experience as a documentary photographer or videographer.
-
Experience conducting training or workshops on photography or storytelling.

Strong creative and technical photography skills, particularly with smartphones and digital cameras.
-
Familiarity with humanitarian storytelling and ethical photojournalism practices.

Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
