About the Role
The Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will support the African Union’s Second Ten Year Implementation Plan (STYIP) of Agenda 2063 and the AU Strategic Plan (2024–2028) by leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks.
This role ensures effective institutionalization of Results-Based Management (RBM), enabling evidence-based decision-making, accountability, and organizational learning across the AU.
Key Responsibilities

Lead review and improvement of AU’s monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

Design and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for strategic initiatives.

Manage institutional M&E frameworks and ensure implementation across projects.
-
Provide expert advice on results-based management (RBM) and change management.
-
Ensure data quality, reporting accuracy, and evidence-based decision making.
-
Support AU departments with capacity building in M&E practices.
-
Coordinate with stakeholders and facilitate RBM integration across AU organs.
Qualifications
🎓 Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, Project/Programme Management, or related fields, with 10 years of relevant experience.
OR
-
Master’s degree in the same fields, with 7 years of experience.
📌 Experience Required:
-
At least 3 years in a supervisory role leading M&E teams.

Proven expertise in designing and implementing M&E frameworks and systems.

Strong knowledge of RBM methodologies and tools.
-
Experience liaising with donors, governments, partners, and stakeholders.

Skilled in developing indicators, baselines, and targets.
Required Skills
