Position Summary – Cook

As a Cook at Marriott Hotels Addis Ababa, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals while ensuring food safety, cleanliness, and presentation standards. You will work closely with the culinary team to deliver exceptional dining experiences for guests.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items following recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines.
• Wash, peel, chop, and portion fresh fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, fryers, and microwaves.
• Test foods to ensure proper cooking and monitor quality during preparation.
• Prepare cold dishes and set up workstations efficiently.
• Maintain cleanliness by washing and disinfecting kitchen tools, knives, tables, and equipment.
• Ensure the correct temperature of food and kitchen appliances.
• Follow safety, hygiene, and company policies, including reporting maintenance issues or hazards.
• Support team members and contribute to a positive work environment.
• Perform additional duties as requested by supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of related work experience in cooking or food preparation.
• Supervisory Experience: Not required.
• License/Certification: None required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
• Capable of lifting or moving objects up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
