The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) is an autonomous federal regulatory body established by Capital Market Proclamation No. 1248/2021. Its mission is to promote the development of an efficient, transparent, and fair capital market in Ethiopia where securities can be issued and traded in an orderly and reliable manner.

As the regulatory authority for the Ethiopian capital market, ECMA is responsible for licensing and supervising entities engaged in securities exchange, derivative trading, securities depository and clearing, capital market services, and other regulated financial activities.

Position 1: Senior Market Supervision Officer II

Qualification Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or above in Law, Economics, Management, Accounting and Finance, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and supervise market activities, including trading operations and participant behaviour, to maintain market integrity and investor confidence.
• Conduct daily surveillance of trades and analyze patterns to detect suspicious activities or irregular trading behaviour.
• Track economic indicators and financial news to assess their potential impact on the market.
• Identify and investigate possible cases of market manipulation, insider trading, or regulatory breaches.
• Conduct offsite inspections on trading members and market infrastructure.
• Prepare and submit accurate reports on market surveillance and compliance findings.
• Contribute to the formulation and improvement of market supervision policies and procedures.
• Utilize advanced data analysis and technology tools to enhance surveillance capabilities.
• Collaborate with the Investigation and Enforcement Department to address regulatory violations.

Qualification Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Information Technology combined with Economics, Management, Accounting and Finance, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• At least seven (7) years of relevant professional experience, including two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee the Market Supervision Department to ensure compliance, transparency, and fairness in market operations.
• Develop and implement strategies, guidelines, and tools for market surveillance and regulatory oversight.
• Manage a team of analysts conducting surveillance on trading activities and participant conduct.
• Review financial publications, media reports, and market indicators to assess emerging trends and potential risks.
