Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) Vacancy Announcement

The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) invites qualified and motivated applicants to apply for the following vacant positions.

EHRC is dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights throughout Ethiopia. Position 1: Associate Human Rights Officer

Location: Semera City Office, Jigjiga City Office

Qualifications and Experience:

  • LLB or LLM degree in Law, Human Rights Law, or International Law.
  • For LLM holders: No prior experience required.
  • For LLB holders: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or 6–12 months participation in the Young Leaders (Internship) Program.
  • Computer literate.
  • Proficiency in Amharic and English required; knowledge of additional local languages is an advantage.

Salary Range: ETB 17,750 – 20,567 gross per month, plus ETB 8,640 housing allowance and ETB 3,300 transport allowance (based on qualifications and experience).


Position 2: Program Assistant

Location: Head Office, Addis Ababa

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BA Degree or Level IV Diploma in Management, Administration, Secretarial Science and Office Management, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience for BA holders or 4 years of relevant experience for Diploma holders.
  • Experience in event management, logistics, and travel coordination is a strong asset.
  • Computer literate.
  • Proficiency in Amharic required; knowledge of other local languages is an advantage.

Salary Range: ETB 9,667 – 10,806 gross per month, plus ETB 4,320 housing allowance and ETB 3,300 transport allowance.


Position 3: Human Rights Resource Center Officer

Location: Head Office, Addis Ababa

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BA or MA degree in Library Science, Information or Knowledge Management, or Information Science.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience for BA holders or 2 years for MA holders in resource center management, documentation, or knowledge management.
  • Skilled in cataloguing and library/resource management systems.
  • Strong research and information retrieval skills.
  • Familiarity with digital resource platforms and online databases.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Proficiency in Amharic required; knowledge of other local languages is an advantage.

Salary Range: ETB 20,400 – 23,683 gross per month, plus ETB 8,640 housing allowance and ETB 3,300 transport allowance.


Position 4: Human Rights Officer, Needs Assessment and Evaluation

Location: Head Office, Addis Ababa

Qualifications and Experience:

  • LLB or LLM degree in Law, Human Rights Law, or International Law.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience for LLB holders or 2 years for LLM holders.
  • Computer literate.
  • Proficiency in Amharic required; knowledge of other local languages is an advantage.

Position 5: Human Rights Officer (Curriculum Design and Material Production)

Location: Head Office, Addis Ababa

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience for LLB holders or 2 years for LLM holders.
  • Computer literate.
  • Proficiency in Amharic required; knowledge of other local languages is an advantage.
