About the Role
The Assistant Accountant will support HFHE’s financial operations by assisting the Finance Officer – Accounts in managing transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role is ideal for detail-oriented candidates with a passion for making a positive community impact through financial expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Record-Keeping

Maintain and update accounting records, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.

Verify and reconcile financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.

Prepare and post journal entries as needed.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
-
Process invoices, expense claims, and payments timely and accurately.

Review vendor invoices and employee expense reports to ensure compliance with policies.
Cash & Bank Management
-
Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, and cash/bank registers.

Handle petty cash accounting and payments for on-site training participants.

Follow up on issued and long-outstanding cheques with suppliers or payees.

Ensure payment of statutory taxes (income tax, withholding tax, pension) to relevant authorities.

Assist with the sale of bid documents and issuing Cash Receipt Vouchers (CRV).
Financial Compliance & Documentation

Ensure compliance with HFHE financial policies, procedures, and accounting principles.

Support audit preparations and provide documentation to auditors.

Organize, file, and digitally store financial records, responding to grant audit queries as needed.

Maintain sequential references for vouchers and prepare audit papers.
Administrative Support & Safeguarding

Provide administrative assistance to the Finance Manager and team members.

Assist in finance-related projects and tasks as assigned.

Integrate safeguarding considerations into activities and maintain risk assessments to protect beneficiaries and communities.
Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Accounting & Finance.

Minimum 1 year of experience as an Accountant or Assistant Accountant.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
