Context
The Office of Staff Security (OSS) provides leadership on security policy, management, and operational support to ensure the effective delivery of IOM programs and activities while maintaining acceptable security risk levels.
Under the direct supervision of the Field Security Officer (FSO) in Addis Ababa, the Field Security Associate will support security management and help implement all security-related aspects of IOM’s operations in Ethiopia.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain effective working relationships with UNDSS, host government agencies, and local security authorities to ensure updated security information.

Assist the FSO in collecting, updating, and communicating information on the security situation in Ethiopia.

Support the development and implementation of IOM Country Office security plans, contingency and emergency response plans, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Monitor staff compliance with safety and security protocols, including mandatory security training and clearance procedures.

Support in conducting security assessments and surveys of IOM offices in Addis Ababa.

Maintain and update warden systems, staff contact lists, and communication networks such as SCAAN.

Ensure the proper functioning of safety and communications equipment and maintain inventory records.

Assist in reporting and documenting security incidents affecting IOM personnel, premises, and operations.

Support training, workshops, and orientation sessions on safety and security awareness for new and existing IOM staff.

Maintain organized and confidential security documentation and contact databases.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
-
University degree in Security, Social Sciences, International Studies, or related fields with three years of relevant experience, OR
-
Completed High School Diploma with five years of relevant professional experience.
Experience:
-
Experience in humanitarian, public, or corporate security fields is desirable.

Experience in security coordination or administrative support for international organizations preferred.

Experience in radio communications and UNDSS Field Security Associate (FSA) course completion is an advantage.
Skills:
-
Strong collaboration skills with government and international security counterparts.

Ability to work effectively with multicultural teams.

Excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
Languages

Fluency in English is required.

Working knowledge of additional UN official languages is an asset.
