Position Summary
The Programme & Partnership Lead – Ethiopia is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing Christian Aid’s programmes and partnerships in Ethiopia. Reporting to the Partnership & Strategy Lead, the role ensures effective programme delivery, fosters collaboration with partners, and drives a decolonised and locally led approach to development and humanitarian interventions.
This position combines strategic oversight, partner management, donor compliance, and advocacy, ensuring programmes deliver measurable impact across Christian Aid’s thematic priorities.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage programme/project delivery, aligning activities with cluster-wide initiatives.

Identify, assess, and onboard new partners to strengthen programme impact.

Strengthen partnerships with local organizations, faith-based groups, and civil society to co-design and implement programmes.

Ensure compliance with donor requirements, including reporting, proposal development, and budgeting.

Convene programme review and learning sessions to improve performance and impact.

Represent Christian Aid in stakeholder engagements, including ACT Alliance collaboration.

Manage and mentor programme staff, ensuring high-quality delivery and alignment with organisational goals.

Promote continuous learning, cross-programme knowledge sharing, and innovation in programme design.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
-
Master’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, or substantial equivalent professional experience.

Extensive experience living and working in a developing country context.

Proven expertise in programme management, partner capacity building, and financial oversight.

Strong knowledge of development issues and poverty drivers in Ethiopia.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, report-writing, and communication skills.

Strong stakeholder engagement and management experience.
Desirable:

Experience with decolonised and locally led partnership approaches.

Experience working with the private sector or multi-sector programmes.

Knowledge of Christian Aid’s thematic areas and integrated programme approaches.
