About CISP Ethiopia

The Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli (CISP), also known as the International Committee for the Development of Peoples, is an international NGO established in 1983 in Italy. CISP has been operating in Ethiopia since 1986, implementing over 200 multi-sectoral projects in food security, WASH, education, health, livelihood, emergency response, migration, and protection across Oromia, Tigray, Somali, Afar, Benishangul-Gumuz, and Addis Ababa.

Currently, with funding from AICS, CISP is implementing the BRIDGE II Project to strengthen resilience and mitigate the impact of drought in Dollo-Ado, Bokolmayo, and Filtu districts of the Liban Zone, Somali Region.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Prepare and process project payment requests with proper documentation.
  • Manage Internet Banking inputs for project transactions.
  • Maintain accurate cashbooks, ledgers, and reconciliations.
  • Monitor expenditures against budgets and report variances.
  • Prepare and submit timely financial reports.
  • Handle staff payroll deductions (income tax, pension contributions).
  • Prepare monthly cash disbursement and fund request reports.
  • Oversee petty cash and ensure proper settlements of advances.
  • Support program staff with financial documentation and compliance.
  • Ensure donor and organizational financial requirements are met.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain filing systems and confidential document storage.
  • Handle official communications including emails, calls, and correspondence.
  • Provide clerical support such as drafting letters and memos.
  • Assist with logistics, office management, and equipment handling.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with minimum 3 years of relevant NGO experience (plus 5+ years in government)
    • OR Diploma in Accounting/Finance with minimum 5 years of relevant NGO experience (plus 5+ years in government).
  • Required Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong knowledge of accounting systems and financial reporting.
    • Fluency in English and Somali; Amharic is an added advantage.
    • Good knowledge of Ethiopian tax and pension systems.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Adobe, email systems).
    • Familiarity with pastoralist traditions and local context.
  • Preferred:
    • Prior experience with donor-funded projects.
    • Experience in NGO financial and administrative management.
