About CRS

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States. CRS operates in over 80 countries to save, protect, and transform lives through emergency response, health, agriculture, education, and peacebuilding programs.

For nearly 60 years in Ethiopia, CRS has supported vulnerable communities through disaster relief, livelihood recovery, and resilience-building projects. CRS’ Joint Emergency Operation Program (JEOP) provides emergency food assistance to transitory food-insecure households. Since 2023, JEOP has integrated nutrition programming to treat and prevent moderate and severe acute malnutrition (MAM and SAM) through the provision of therapeutic foods, community screenings, referrals, and Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC).

The nutrition consortium under JEOP is led by CRS in collaboration with CARE, GOAL, World Vision, Food for the Hungry, ORDA-Ethiopia (ORDAE), and the Relief Society of Tigray (REST).
