CRS supports vulnerable communities with disaster mitigation, recovery, and livelihoods initiatives.

The Joint Emergency Operation Program (JEOP) provides emergency food assistance to food-insecure households and has integrated nutrition interventions since 2023 to manage moderate (MAM) and severe acute malnutrition (SAM). CRS leads the emergency nutrition consortium with partners including CARE, GOAL, World Vision, Food for the Hungry, ORDA-Ethiopia, and REST.


Job Summary

As a Project Officer – Nutrition, you will:

  • Monitor and report on nutrition project activities.
  • Support CRS in ensuring high-quality services and effective project outcomes.
  • Strengthen capacity building for health staff and ensure best practices are followed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support coordination and implementation of nutrition project activities in line with CRS quality standards and donor requirements.
  • Collect information on partner capacity, technical assistance needs, and monitor support activities.
  • Provide technical expertise in nutrition data management.
  • Monitor quality of nutrition services at health facilities, including SAM treatment, referrals, and IYCF-E practices.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for health workers and outreach staff.
  • Collaborate with Woreda Health Offices to identify training gaps and provide protocols and tools for SAM case management.
  • Conduct routine monitoring visits, identify gaps, and recommend adjustments.
  • Ensure adequate stock of therapeutic foods and coordinate logistics with consortium partners.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain nutrition data, develop databases, and produce reports, charts, maps, and infographics.
  • Support senior project staff in reporting updates on nutrition situations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • BSc in Health, Nutrition, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in project monitoring and data collection is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Windows and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strong observation, analysis, and judgment skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with local partners and communities.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and service-oriented approach.
  • Proficiency in English and Tigrigna (spoken and written).

Travel Requirements: Extensive travel within cluster woredas (60–80%).
