The Joint Emergency Operation Program (JEOP) provides emergency food assistance to food-insecure households and integrates nutrition interventions to prevent and treat moderate (MAM) and severe acute malnutrition (SAM). CRS leads the emergency nutrition consortium with partners including CARE, GOAL, World Vision, Food for the Hungry, ORDA-Ethiopia, and REST.


Job Summary

As Senior Project Officer – Nutrition, you will lead JEOP nutrition activities in assigned woredas, ensuring project objectives are met. You will coordinate project activities, provide technical guidance, and support implementing partners to ensure high-quality emergency nutrition interventions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and lead the implementation of all assigned project activities per detailed implementation plans.
  • Manage day-to-day emergency nutrition activities, including SAM case treatment, IYCF-E, and supportive interventions.
  • Provide technical guidance to field staff and ensure adherence to national SAM treatment guidelines, Sphere standards, and donor requirements.
  • Support development of implementation plans, analyze supply requests, identify challenges, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor project performance against targets, oversee project officers, and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
  • Coordinate capacity building and technical support activities for staff and partners.
  • Ensure logistical and administrative support for staff and partners is available.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Health, or related field with 3–5 years of project support experience, preferably in emergency nutrition.
  • Master’s degree in Nutrition, Health, or related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Partner engagement, participatory action planning, and community engagement.
  • Project monitoring and data collection.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and judgment skills.
  • Good relationship management with local partners and communities.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and service-focused.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.

Languages: Proficiency in spoken and written English and local languages.
Travel: Up to 50% travel to project sites.
Supervisory Responsibility: Oversee project officers based in the PDPs.
