Addis Ababa University, College of Health Sciences, is seeking a qualified and motivated Research Assistant and Data Manager to support its ongoing research and evaluation projects. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to health research, community engagement, and data management initiatives within the institution.


Job Summary

The Research Assistant and Data Manager will work closely with project investigators to coordinate training, ensure data quality, and oversee the overall monitoring of research activities. The role involves managing data systems, supporting community engagement, and providing technical assistance in the design and implementation of research tools.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate research activities and assist in training health professionals involved in project implementation.
  • Develop, refine, and manage electronic and manual data collection tools.
  • Conduct field visits to ensure research protocols are properly implemented at all study sites.
  • Collect, transcribe, translate, and analyze qualitative and quantitative research data.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of data across multiple sites through regular quality control checks.
  • Organize, clean, and maintain research datasets for use by project investigators in Ethiopia and abroad.
  • Perform double data entry, manage the study database, and troubleshoot data-related issues.
  • Participate in community mobilization activities and maintain positive relationships with healthcare professionals and community leaders.
  • Assist in data analysis, report writing, and preparation of annual and final project reports.
  • Support project staff with data software usage and resolve technical or data entry challenges.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educational Background: MD and MPH (Master of Public Health) required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year and up to 3 years of relevant work experience in data management, health research, or related fields.
  • Language: Excellent command of written and spoken English.
