About the Role
Sandford International School is looking for an experienced and motivated College Counsellor to support students in their higher education journey. The role involves leading the university application process, guiding students through admissions requirements, and preparing them for competitive programs worldwide.
The College Counsellor will report to the IB Coordinator/Deputy Head of Secondary and work closely with the Head of Secondary, Head of Sixth Form, and other key staff members.
Key Responsibilities

Guide Year 12 & 13 students in applying to universities globally.

Provide clear advice on American, Pan-European (UCAS), and international admissions processes.

Support students in preparing personal statements, essays, and application forms.

Organize career and university guidance programs within the school curriculum.

Arrange visiting speakers from universities and professional fields.

Build and maintain a careers and university guidance library.

Liaise with the British Council, embassies, and higher education institutions to secure opportunities for students.

Facilitate parent workshops on higher education pathways.

Provide one-to-one counselling sessions with students and families.

Prepare students for competitive courses such as Medicine, Law, Ivy League, and Oxbridge admissions.

Oversee administration of PSAT, SAT, GMAT and manage the Bridge-U platform.

Organize careers fairs and events for Year 9–11 students.

Deliver training to staff on writing references and personal statements.
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education or Counselling.

3–5 years of experience in college/university counselling.

Strong knowledge of international admissions systems (USA, UK/Europe, and beyond).

Experience working with students, families, and external agencies such as universities and NGOs.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
