World Bank Ethiopia Job Vacancy 2025 – Financial Sector Specialist
The World Bank Ethiopia Country Office is inviting qualified Ethiopian nationals to apply for the following position, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The World Bank has an active and expanding energy portfolio in Ethiopia, which includes support for power sector reforms, transmission and distribution projects, grid electrification, solar mini-grids, standalone solar systems, clean cooking solutions, and regional interconnection initiatives.
Position: Financial Sector Specialist
Selection Criteria & Qualifications:

Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Business, Management, Economics, or a related discipline.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in:

Financial stability
-
Financial inclusion
-
Financial sector deepening
-
SME development and growth support
-
Additional Requirements:
-
Strong knowledge of financial sector policies, products, and procedures.

Experience in designing and implementing lending operations.
-
Ability to lead core analytical ASA (Advisory Services and Analytics) focused on financial sector development.

Familiarity with World Bank Group policies, Trust Funds, and operations.
-
Proven experience influencing policy discussions at the country level.

Strong stakeholder and client relationship skills.

Ability to collaborate with IFC, development partners, and across World Bank units.

Work experience in Ethiopia and Africa is an advantage.

Excellent English writing and presentation skills.
