Job Summary
The WASH Technical Lead provides strategic technical direction for WASH programs, ensures evidence-based design and quality assurance, and leads donor engagement to secure funding. This role manages technical specialists, mentors project teams, and coordinates with partners to deliver high-impact programming.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Building

Foster collaboration, mentor staff, and support professional development of technical teams
Capacity Building
-
Support and mentor local institutions and NGOs to enhance sector capacity
Resource Mobilization & Donor Engagement
-
Lead technical input for proposals, donor engagement, and concept note development

Build relationships with donors, government agencies, UN, NGOs, and partners
-
Contribute to national portfolio growth through resource acquisition
Technical Guidance & Sector Strategy
-
Develop and review sector strategies aligned with WVE priorities
-
Provide evidence-based guidance for program design, implementation, and monitoring

Integrate cross-cutting themes: gender, safeguarding, conflict sensitivity, nexus, and faith-based development
Program Quality Assurance & Support

Conduct technical monitoring visits and provide hands-on support

Capture innovations, lessons learned, and best practices for learning and scale-up
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEAL)

Define sector-specific indicators and support robust monitoring systems

Use data and evidence for adaptive management and decision-making
Government & Sector Engagement

Represent WVE in technical working groups and sector coordination platforms

Influence national policy and practices using field-based evidence
Global & Regional Collaboration

Engage with WVI global and regional technical teams to share learning and adapt models

Support the Localization Roadmap to strengthen local partner capacity
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Hydrogeology, or related WASH field. Bachelor’s with substantial experience may be considered

Experience: Minimum 7 years in technical leadership roles within international development or humanitarian contexts
